Welcome to my website and thank you for taking the time to visit. I hope to
give you a brief insight into me, both the golfer and the person; on
thriving my passion for golf, drive for success and my enthusiasm. So to
start...
Well, my first introduction to golf was as a thirteen year old and came
about perhaps some might say out of unfortunate circumstances- basically, I
hurt my knee which restricted my participation in other physical sports, but
like a lot of kids who are sport crazy, I needed to get both a competitive
edge and the enjoyment one can only get from sport- so I turned to golf.
Every cloud has a silver lining I suppose!
Initially, I joined Cobh golf club and as my interest blossomed I quickly
joined the foremost club in the region, Fota Island Resort. It became
apparent that I wasn't to bad at the sport, with my handicap tumbling
quickly to +1 I received recognition by proudly representing munster for
3years at youth level and 2years at senior level- I was fortunate enough to
be part of the victorious interprovincial team at Baltray Golf Club in 2008.
Other successes along the way include the Connacht Youths Championship at
Banna Golf Club, Galway- 2007 and the renowned Carlow Scratch Cup- 2009. And
indeed the Minor League Golf Tour event in Florida 2008.
I get great
satisfaction from the achievement as it is part of a professional golf tour
in Florida. As part of my golf education I have spent the last four winters
in Port St. Lucie, Florida playing on this tour, allowing me to hone my
skills on different types of courses keeping my game and competitive edge
sharp, and perhaps most importantly, proving that I am comfortable playing a
very high standard of competitive golf amongst professionals.
What next?
I will be playing a full season on the europro tour this summer and the next step is to join the Alps
Tour this winter and to play a full session to further enhance my education
and experience. And then onto the Challenge Tour, with of course the
ultimate goal of joining the European Tour and becoming a successful playing
professional, hopefully in the not too distant future.
So why will i succeed?
I certainly believe that I will achieve my initial goal and hopefully then
can set my sights even higher, simply because of my enormous commitment and
passion for my endeavours. Naturally I have a strict practice regime which
is diligently follow and I have a very clear idea of my targets to achieve
my ultimate goal. The world class practice facilities provided to me by Fota
Island Resort that allow me to hone all elements of my game and I am
fortunate to receive guidance from well renowned golf professional Kevin
Morris who ensures me that I have realistic targets and goals, underlines
the importance of working hard on my swing and game. Having competed at the
top level himself he stresses the importance of short game and monitoring
the basics- which is the foundation of any successful golf swing. We are
currently focusing on tournament play -not thinking so technically on the
course, being patient, accepting that every shot may not be perfect and
making a score. Having such guidance and knowledge can only help me achieve
my goals all the sooner.
How to stay focused?
To complement my golf and ongoing technical work, I have a great passion for
fitness- which in today's competitive environment is a large advantage. I
work closely with Robbie Williams from fitness worx in Douglas, Cork. We are
working on my posture and more specifically on my mobility, flexibility and
core strength. And of corse I do plenty of cardio work too, with the
emphasis on circuit training rather than fitness machines, ensuring my
workouts are more challenging, enjoyable and more focused.
So hopefully you have gained a brief inside look at what makes me so
determined, positive and optimistic about my future as a golf professional.
